The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence and the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault Rally for $50 Million to End Sexual and Domestic Violence

What: The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (the Partnership) and the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA) will convene legislators, survivors, and victim-advocates to rally and in support of $50 million in new state funding to end sexual and domestic violence. 

Later in the afternoon, the Partnership and CALCASA will meet with Governor Brown’s office, turning in over 1,200 petition signatures in support of the budget request.

Why: Sexual and domestic violence incur significant costs and consequences to survivors, communities, and governments: Sexual violence costs the state of California $140 billion, and domestic violence costs the U.S. $460 billion a year. The Partnership and CALCASA are proposing a state budget package that would include California’s first ever-prevention funding for sexual and domestic violence, support services to complement existing emergency interventions, and research and innovation.
